Financial Life

Our firm was one of the first to adopt this process back in 2001 and is still one of the few firms locally to utilize this concept in our planning efforts. Through this process we work with our clients to get to the heart of their values and priorities to create a framework which aligns their financial plan with their life goals. While we provide a structured process, there is a commitment of time required beyond face-to-face meetings for the results to be rewarding.

Goals Based Wealth
Management (GBWM)

Another area where we made a decision to be a pioneer, at least locally. This concept isn’t new. One of our partners started GBWM in 1998, but it has been slow in adoption across the financial landscape. We made the decision in 2013 to transition our clients from the traditional financial planning approach to that of goals-based. While this may seem subtle to many, the results of our planning work are much more refined, fluid and accurate due to this approach.

Our trademarked approach to planning. Unknown to us at the time, this approach almost falls in tandem as a combination of Financial Life Planning and Goals-Based Wealth Management. The process is Ebeneezer Scrooge in nature looking at the Future, Present and Past from both an Interior and Exterior vantage point.

Why Us?

We were one the first fee-only financial planning firms in the Louisville area when we incorporated in 1984. Just as we have for the last 30 plus years, we provide comprehensive financial planning that is “you” centered, not product centered. As a fiduciary to our clients we have a responsibility to always act in the best interest of our clients at all times. Our structure as a registered investment advisor requires it as well as our adherence to the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. While this may seem logical, a large majority of those working in our profession do not have this legal requirement. We are a planning firm first and foremost and will never be masquerading an investment plan as a comprehensive financial plan. We feel this is critical, and to borrow some words from Yogi Berra as to the importance of planning, “If you don’t know where you are going you’ll end up someplace else.”

Comprehensive Plan

This plan is designed for higher income/net worth clients. The analysis is a detailed review of the special problems that these individuals have. The investment strategies are developed around a custom designed portfolio model, oriented to no-load investments. The procedure is an interactive one, arranged to involve the client in each step of the decision process. Often we will work with the client’s other advisors to implement the plan.
